About us

In 1974, Antonio Pozo and Antonio Ibáñez (both from Cádiz, from Vejer de la Frontera and Sanlúcar de Barrameda) met working on the well-known "Calle del Hambre" in the now-disappeared "Los Amigos" Restaurant; 8 years later in 1982 they decided to open their own business in one of the corners of this iconic street in Fuengirola, the Restaurante La Góndola.

The choice of name, although many people automatically think of Italy and beautiful Venice, we must clarify that it is not really very related. And it is that Antonio Pozo, a former sailor, was passionate about boats, and was clear that his restaurant must be named after a boat. After much thought and decision, he opted for the gondolas, due to the cozy, intimate and picturesque air that this boat gives off.

Due to the family nature of the restaurant, it was and still is a work school for the family and workers themselves. Currently having a staff of 10 workers. At the age of 16, in 1992, the son of one of the partners, Antonio Pozo, joined the staff, continuing to this day (currently as one of the restaurant's owners). Arrived in 2000, it is Carmelo Serrano who joins our house staff as a waiter.

In our kitchen we have a team made up of 4 professionals, adding together 46 years of experience.

Juan, chief cook, started working with us when he was 18 years old, in 1988 he started as a waiter but changed the tray for the stove 29 years ago.

Tanya, chef, joined our staff in 2007. Arturo, kitchen assistant, joined our restaurant in 2015.

Our team of waiters include both current partners and managers of the restaurant, Antonio Pozo and Carmelo Serrano, in addition From:

Rafa, our bartender, he is in charge of making the drinks come out quickly, he started working in the restaurant in 2008.

Magdalena, public relations and waitress, started working with us in 2015.

In 2016 with the retirement of both partners, Antonio Pozo and Antonio Ibáñez, the son, Antonio Pozo, and nephew, Carmelo Serrano, take the witness, thus continuing the family business. Updating but respecting the roots and inheritances left by the founding partners. And due to the great demand for work they had, they expanded the workforce:

Carlos, the chef, started working with us in 2016.

Jonathan, a waiter, our latest addition to our house, son of Arturo, began working with us at 2018.
